Baby Mars

November 13, 2013

Soooo… NASA released this video about what Mars might have looked like 4 billion years ago. Based on the evidence we’ve collected from all our hard working rovers we now believe there once existed liquid water on the surface. There even might have been liquid lakes under a thick, heat-retaining atmosphere not unlike our own.

Just wanted to show you the video because it’s pretty neat. It’s also a bit scary to think that our planetary neighbor probably looked a lot like us… and now it’s just a desolate, rusty wasteland (with robots!)

Freaky cool.

The dwarves delved too greedily and too deep. You know what they awoke in the darkness of Khazad-dum… shadow and flame!

Take solace, our planet has another 1.75 billion years before we *have* to look like that and by then we’ll just be part of rock or maybe one of the last water molecules evaporating into space…
    It’s cool to see though.

Have you ever sat on the shore and tried to fight the perception of the water being all there is to the landscape? The water is prominent and mesmerizing enough that it’s impossible for an accurate mirage, but it’s fun to try to imagine the landscape as it continues down (not to mention all the relics, history and Nessy).
